Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
Woah. The Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey ($96,200,000.00) is amazing. It’s like something you’d see in Transformers. The funny thing is, it is a transformer. So far it is the only helicopter with the ability to take off vertically and then rotate its wings to immediately transition into a plane. All I could think about when reading about this miracle morpher was “Damn, whoever owns one of these doesn’t have to worry about traffic for the rest of their lives”.
Oh well, gas costs will make an interesting trade-off. Having the speed of a plane and the hover ability of a helicopter make the Osprey a versatile vehicle capable of getting the job done whether it be transporting troops, delivering cargo, cutting emergency response times or flying those secret undercover operations that we all wish we could be a part of.
How well does it get the job done? Well let’s just say if your mission includes less than 24 troops or 20,000 pounds of cargo, you’re all set. Worried about not having enough space on that humongous landing boat? While landing the craft’s wings rotate upright and the rotors fold, optimizing the amount of Ospreys you can fit into one space, because you know you can’t just buy one.
