Journey of a lifetime crammed into one epic minute [Video]
The daily routine and trials of our everyday lives can take most of our time, attention, and for a lot of people, a great deal of patience. This is normal and for the most part it’s healthy to keep ourselves busy, but there are times when it might become too much. And that’s when stress starts to kick in. Whether it’s from your annoying supervisor who spends more time criticizing you then doing his own job, flat tires, or unexpected visits from in-laws, stress can come to us in a variety of forms. In today’s day and age people process many times more information than that of our ancestors, so it’s no surprise that after awhile it can all get a bit overwhelming, especially when you’ve got a lot on your plate. Worse yet, stress has been proven to affect memory, decision making, and has even be linked to a number diseases! So now the question is what can we do in the face of this invisible but potent foe? The answer is simple: Rest and enjoy the simpler pleasures of life! Taking a break from the monotonous routine and enjoying yourself could be exactly what you need to get you back on your feet.
That being said, here are a few suggestions for you to do just that:
MOVE
Move: Spend some of those vacation days that you’ve been stocking up and travel! With proper planning and preparation it’s possible to arrange a trip within a moderate price range. Try to plan your flights ahead of time, stay at a friends or relatives, and if possible use public transportation. Traveling is a great way to disconnect from your regular life, while getting the relaxation you deserve.
LEARN
Learn: If you’re more interested in something that’s self gratifying, try learning a new skill or hobby. Getting your thoughts off of your worries is the first step toward a healthier mind. It could be anything, from surfing, sculpting, to underwater basket weaving! While I don’t recommend that last one, a hobby that you enjoy could be exactly what you need to get you in your right mind.
EAT
Eat: If traveling isn’t your thing and your looking to indulge yourself, go and try a new cuisine!
Add some variety to your palette while giving yourself an excuse to go out on a scenic and social escapade. The atmosphere that comes with eating out can sometimes feel like a vacation within itself, minus the week or two out of town. Going out to eat, especially with company, might just be that much needed break you’ve been looking for!
So now that you have an idea of a few things that you can do, what are you waiting for? Go out and try it for yourself!
