Supersonic Aircraft
Every day that passes we are one step closer to achieving major milestones in Aerospace technology. With all these new innovations quickly approaching fruition I worry about today’s FAA and their ability to keep up. Our capability to fly at supersonic speeds over land in civil aircraft is dependent on our need to reduce the level of sonic booms. NASA has been exploring a variety of options for quieting the boom, from design concepts to moving through wind tunnels and flight tests of newborn technologies. This rendering of a possible future civil supersonic transport shows a vehicle that is shaped to reduce the sonic shockwave signature and also to reduce drag.
